Columbia’s $21mm Media Production Center (MPC)
Open house for school’s state-of-the-art building
The school will unveil its 35,500 sq. ft. facility at 1600 S. State, its first entirely new construction in Columbia’s 120-year history, at a Feb. 5, 6-8 p.m. open house.
The MPC features three stages on the south end of the building. The largest is a 7,350 sq. ft. soundstage, with a 23-ft. floor-to-light rig span and window views to allow observation of productions from the lobby.
A 2,200 sq. ft. soundstage is called “the teaching stage,” and a 2,085 sq. ft. studio is devoted to motion capture.
